sortie-ing around the latin quarter!

On July 3rd (feels like forever ago - laptop problems), we went on a group trip around the Latin Quarter to see the Bibliotheque St. Genevieve & Saint-Étienne-du-Mont.

The library was beautiful! It reminded me of one you might find in Hogwarts! Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to use it for our studies, but we have our own beautiful library with a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower in our building.

my horrible panoramic of the ceiling! it reminded me of a train station.

After the library, we went just down the street to Saint-Étienne-du-Mont

Now if you've seen Midnight in Paris a gazillion times, you might recognize this as the stoop where a 1920s car picked up Owen Wilson to take him back to  what he considers the Golden Age of art and literature. So cool!

oh hey, owen wilson.

Inside, the church is just as beautiful. Like most churches in Paris and France, in general, it is a Catholic Church and is open for viewing as well as Sunday mass.

It's definitely not as crowded as Notre-Dame de Paris, so I highly encourage you to see it if you're touring around the many monuments in the Latin Quarter!

Happy adventuring,
Madeleine

  2. Did you notice that on the tower of the church there is a clock? So appropriate for that movie. I need to watch it again now. Haha!
